Assistant or Associate Professor Positions

Michigan Technological University's College of Computing and College of Engineering invite applications for five (5) Assistant or Associate Professor positions in the broadly defined areas of computing education, computer engineering, computer science, and electrical engineering. Priority areas of consideration include, but are not limited to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence/machine learning, cloud computing/internet of things, robotics/automation, robotics/healthcare, big data/data science, human interfaces, embedded systems, and education research related to computing fields. Successful candidates will develop strong externally funded research programs, participate in undergraduate and graduate instruction and advising, and contribute to the university and society through professional service. Positions will be filled no later than mid-August 2020.

All applicants must possess an earned PhD degree in computer science, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or have a strong background in a related area. Salaries are negotiable depending upon qualifications.

The College of Computing ( has approximately 32 faculty members, 650 undergraduate students in 5 degree programs and 90 graduate students in 5 degree programs.

The College of Engineering ( has approximately 160 faculty members, 3,700 undergraduate students in 16 degree programs and 740 graduate students in 27 degree programs.

Biomedical Engineering

Assistant Professor

We encourage applications from individuals with strong engineering and mathematical skills who can form productive external collaborations with the medical device industry as well as with other units of the Michigan Tech College of Engineering. The Department is particularly strong in cardiovascular engineering, biomaterials, tissue engineering, biomechanics, biomedical sensors and instrumentation, and biomedical imaging.

Chemical Engineering

Assistant or Associate Professor

All areas of chemical engineering are of interest, including but not limited to advanced materials, biotechnology, energy & sustainability, modeling (molecular simulation, systems etc), separations, process simulation & design, and process automation & control. We are seeking candidates who have demonstrated excellence in research and have a strong commitment to teaching and working with students.

Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Chair will lead the Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty in their mission of excellence in education, research, and service. We seek an individual with the vision and experience to elevate the department’s prominence in research within the fields of electrical and computer engineering, further our strong tradition of education excellence, and grow our MS and PhD programs.
