Staff Search Committee Certification
This two-part certification covers best practices and legal aspects of conducting a dynamic search and successfully hiring the best candidate.
Effective July 1, 2015, completion of this certification is required for all staff who will serve on a search committee; either as a Search Committee Chair or a Committee Member. This certification will be valid for four (4) years after the date of certification. After four (4) years, an employee will be required to take the course again to become recertified.
Part 1: Complete "Recruiting and Hiring" Online Course
This online training covers each step of the staff hiring process, provides
direction for effective interviewing, and delivers other resources to support
recruitment and hiring. It consists of a 30 minute audio/PowerPoint presentation
and a brief quiz.
Part 2: Complete "Best Practices of Staff Hiring (Legal Aspects)" Online Course
This online course was designed by staff in the Office of Institutional Equity. It consists of a 35 minute audio/PowerPoint presentation, hiring scenarios you read and respond to, and a brief survey.
Both of these courses are online in Canvas and follow each other in the course flow. You must complete both quizzes, a 4 question quiz after Part 1 and a 7 question quiz after Part 2.
