Naming Convention
When creating a name for your student organization, you may include the terms “Husky” or “Huskies” without regulation. You may use the terms “Michigan Tech”, “MTU”, or Michigan Technological University only if it is preceded by an “at”.
- Ex: “French Fry Club at MTU”.
- You cannot use “MTU French Fry Club” or “French Fry Club of MTU”.
Your name has to imply that MTU does not own the club in any way.
Language about MTU
When describing your club on Involvement Link, Social Media, or your constitution, you must use the same consideration as the Naming Convention. You cannot imply that your RSO is Michigan Tech’s organization.
- You can say “the premier french fry organization at Michigan Tech”.
- You could not say you are “Michigan Tech’s premier french fry organization".
Logo Design
Unique design
If you want to create a logo for your RSO, you are free to create a completely original logo that does not use any Michigan Tech branding or logos. If you want to use a Michigan Tech logo please follow the guidelines below:
Michigan Tech or Michigan Technological University Logo
You can use these logos if:
- You co-brand promotions by using the University logo alongside your club’s unique logo
- You just use the “Michigan Tech” or “Michigan Technological University” logos
- You cannot use elements of the institutional logo or alter the institutional logo in any way, including changing the colors; removing, adding, or altering design elements; stretching; or shrinking the logo
Athletics/Huskies Script Logo
You can use the Athletics logos if Your RSOs represents a sport that is recognized as an NCAA college sport or emerging sport, are included in the club sports, competitive sports, or sports and recreation categories, and follows the guidelines below.
- You co-brand promotions by using the Athletics logo alongside your club logo
- You only use the “Michigan Tech” Athletics logo, stand-alone Athletics icon, or "Huskies" script
- You cannot use elements of the athletics logos or alter the athletics logos in any way, including changing the colors; removing, adding, or altering design elements; stretching, or shrinking the logo
MTU Seal
Under no condition can the seal or an altered version be used in any way.
Old MTU Logos
Under no conditions can previous MTU logos be used.
