FAQ for Students
Navigate to the GivePulse website and select login from the upper right hand corner. Select "Single Sign On" and then search for and select "Michigan Technological University." Enter your Michigan Tech single sign on credentials and select login.
From the main Michigan Tech page, select events to view upcoming or open and ongoing volunteer opportunities. Click an event block to learn more about each opportunity. Ready to commit? Select the blue "register" button on the upper right hand side of the event page.
From the Michigan Tech page, select "Affiliates" to learn more about the groups that are active in the Keweenaw. If an organization does not have a lot of information on GivePulse, contact their primary administrator or navigate to their organization's website.
If you signed up directly for an event, your impact will be added automatically when you are marked as attended. However, if you completed service hours outside of a GivePulse event, you can still add those hours. Full instructions on adding impacts, tracking and updating impacts, and sharing impacts can be found on the GivePulse support website. When adding impacts, please make sure it is set to "public" and shared with Michigan Technological University so we can view the full impact we are having on the community.
FAQ for Community Partners
Follow the directions on the GivePulse support website to create your group. Make sure your group doesn't already exist before getting started, you may only need to update your administrator. Group pages with basic functionality are free for non-profits and community organizations.
Add your organization as an affiliate to the Michigan Tech group. This allows all of your organizations events to be listed on the main Michigan Tech volunteer page. Each week we also share "Coming up on GivePulse" updates in our student newsletter to highlight upcoming volunteer events in our area.
Follow the directions on the GivePulse support website to create your event. If you are affiliated with Michigan Tech, your event will automatically be posted to the Michigan Tech homepage. Events can be open and ongoing opportunities, one day events, or shifts over the course of multiple days and weeks.
There are two ways to verify impacts. If you created an event that the student registered for, you can simply sign them in. If there was not an associated event and students are reporting the hours to you directly, you may follow these instructions to verify their impact.
"Our mission is to enable everyone in the world to participate and become engaged in lifting their community to new heights. We do so by providing a platform for anyone to list, find and organize and measure social impact initiatives in the community. It starts with one individual to build an army to help improve the world."
