Aerospace Engineering Major

Aerospace engineers design, test, and manufacture aircraft, spacecraft, satellites, missiles, and related equipment and systems. Learn the aeronautical and astronautical aspects of aerospace engineering with hands-on, in-depth coverage of space systems and spacecraft engineering at Michigan Tech. Upon graduation, you'll be prepared to become a leader in the aeronautics industry, the rapidly growing space systems sector, national and international initiatives in planetary exploration, or graduate studies in aerospace engineering.

Get real aerospace engineering experience that will launch your career into orbit. Join one of Michigan Tech's Enterprise teams, like the Aerospace Enterprise, the Multiplanetary INnovation Enterprise (MINE), or the AEronautics and Rocketry Enterprise. Work in our Planetary Surface Technology Development Lab (PSTDL) and design lunar rovers and power management solutions for NASA (by competing in and winning national competitions). Engineer a space debris mitigation drone or develop a faster machining process for aviation components through an industry-sponsored Senior Design project. Design, build, and launch nanosatellites on SpaceX missions from Cape Canaveral. Participate in student organizations like SAE Aero Design and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
