Matters of health weigh heavy on the minds of society, but at Michigan Technological University, researchers are turning some of the most challenging questions into incredible answers. Health researchers at Michigan Tech investigate countless medical issues—bringing expertise in biological sciences, biomedical engineering, chemistry, cognitive and learning science, and kinesiology and integrative physiology together to find solutions to society’s demands. From sleep depravation and diabetes to obesity and neurovascular control, our research addresses nearly every aspect of health research.

Researchers at Tech focus their work on areas like exercise and integrative physiology, biomechanics and motor learning, cardiovascular engineering, and occupational safety and health. Our researchers’ engineering know-how pairs with advanced scientific knowledge to bring innovative solutions to a multitude of complex medical concepts. And our cutting-edge laboratories and equipment offer researchers a robust suite of analytical tools with which to conduct their work; the Biomedical Optics Lab focuses on the way light interacts with human tissue and how to best image physiological processes, while the Biosensors Lab aims to develop implantable wireless sensors for taking real-time stress and pressure measurements.
