My Michigan Tech: Hunter Storie

Hunter talks about why he chose Michigan Tech to study theatre. The short answer? He's on a first-name basis with his professors, is building professional connections, and likes the job placement rate, too.

Master backstage operations.

Theatre and entertainment technology allows you to master the art of the backstage—perfecting scenery, lighting, costumes, makeup, sound, and management. You’ll study art and design along with engineering technology or business to develop the skills needed to blend solid technical expertise with innovation, artistry, and creativity.

Do real-world projects from day one. Work on audio plays and design costumes, lighting, and scenery for mainstage productions in our high-tech Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts or our black box McArdle Theatre. Get expertise in event staging, museum display, and themed retail. Develop a professional portfolio starting your first semester. Attend professional conferences. Limited enrollment gives you more time with professors, advisors, and equipment. At Michigan Tech, you'll blend innovation, artistry, and creativity with solid technical expertise at a leading STEM university.

"Don’t sell yourself short. Tech is an amazing school that gives students skills most other universities ignore, and that makes us very valuable as employees and leaders." Aaron Christianson, Alumnus
