Orientation

Orientation at Michigan Tech helps you successfully transition to college life by helping you plan for academic success, understand campus resources, and find a sense of community.

During Orientation, you will:

  • Explore the campus environment and learn about available resources to support your success.
  • Learn about academic expectations, including your degree requirements, the importance of test scores and transcripts, and information about Essential Education.
  • Connect with other students and staff to build your Michigan Tech community from day one.

Spring 2026—Midyear Orientation

Midyear Orientation will take place on January 4, 2026.

Summer Session Orientation

During your summer session orientation, you will meet with your academic advisors, get registration information, complete placement tests, and learn about campus resources. For summer 2026, there are four dates available to choose from, choose one date:

  • May 31-1
  • June 7-8
  • June 12-13
  • June 19-20.

Fall Session Orientation (O-Week)

All students attend Fall Session. The second required part of Orientation for incoming students is a fall session called Orientation Week, or O-Week. O-Week is designed to help you to feel at home on campus to ensure a smooth transition to the fall semester. This includes:

  • Community building activities
  • Michigan Tech traditions
  • Academic success preparation

Move-In Days

You will be assigned a date and time by Residential Living. If your Move-In date and time does not work for your schedule, contact Residential Living directly and they will do their best to help.
