Gain a Strong Foundation in Dynamic Systems with Modeling and Simulation

Michigan Tech's graduate on-campus and online certificate in Dynamic Systems develops a foundation of analytical mechanics and multiphysics modeling that allows you to explore applications suited to your interests in mechanical engineering.

Dynamic systems explain how various intrinsic and extrinsic elements in complex systems —living and nonliving—interrelate to drive change in the system over time. The discipline is used to study vehicle behavior, electromechanics, and human locomotion. While dynamic systems are often explained through mathematical formulation, the emergence of model-based data gathering in machine learning requires engineers to have a foundation in simulation development, verification, and validation in addition to mathematical modeling.

Who is This Certificate For?

This certificate is for qualified professionals who want to enhance their skill set and can be a foundation to continue toward a graduate degree. It is also valuable for degree-seeking students looking to develop a concentration that gives them an edge in their career path.

What You Need to Know

With guidance from an industry-connected faculty in the Department of Mechanical Engineering-Engineering Mechanics, students in the graduate certificate Dynamic Systems program develop practical knowledge from experimental and simulation approaches, learn to use state-of-the-art tools and methods, and work individually and in teams to develop the professional skills for successful cross-disciplinary, model-based engineering.
