Are you interested in a cybersecurity career?

Do you want to help defend the nation’s digital frontier? The NSF CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS) program will help you get ready for an exciting career in cybersecurity.

• To learn more, attend an informational session on Nov. 1, at 7 p.m. in Rekhi 113. The SFS program provides full scholarships for two or three years to support cybersecurity undergraduate and graduate education. In return for their scholarships, following graduation recipients agree to work in a position related to cybersecurity with the U.S. government for a period equal to the length of the scholarship.
• This year’s application window for the 2023 CyberCorps cohort is from January 1 to February 2, 2023. The new cohort will receive CyberCorps scholarships starting in fall 2023. Scholarship opportunities are limited, and early application is strongly recommended.
• SFS Scholars can major in:
  • BS in Cybersecurity (CyS)
  • BS in Computer Network and System Administration (CNSA)
  • BS in Computer Science (CS)
  • BS in Software Engineering (SE)
  • BS in Computer Engineering (CpE)
  • BS in Electrical Engineering (EE)
  • BS in Management Information Systems (MIS)
  • MS in Cybersecurity
  Scholarship Benefits
  • Full-time tuition and education-related fees
  • Stipend: $25,000 per year for undergraduate students and $34,000 per year for graduate students
  • Professional development allowance (travel, professional certification etc.) up to $6,000 per academic year

Meet CCLC Coach Debbie Brink

• About me: I am a hard worker, a loyal friend, and a fast learner. I try to do my best in everything and constantly improve my skills and methods. Some of my interests include cars, dog training, and cybersecurity. I enjoy reading, playing tennis, and participating in Dungeons & Dragons campaigns. 
• Thoughts on CCLC coaching: I think the CCLC is a great opportunity to grow my own skills while helping others to develop theirs. Being able to explain concepts and the application of them to others strengthens my own understanding of them, and gives me the opportunity to think of and explain them in different ways. I also wish to help fellow students work through their programs because I've utilized the CCLC in the past year and found it to be extremely helpful.

• Programming languages that I know: Assembly Language, C, Java, MATLAB

Conflict Resolution Workshop. Do you wish you knew how to handle different types of conflict better? Are you interested in learning new strategies? The Graduate Student Government Professional Development Committee will present a Conflict Resolution Workshop on Nov. 7, 6-7:30 p.m.

Michigan Space Grant Consortium Funding Opportunities. The MSGC is accepting applications for 2023-2024 student funding opportunities. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 16, at 11:59 p.m.

LeaderShape Institute. The 2023 LeaderShape Institute will take place Jan. 4-7 at the Ford Center in Alberta, Mich. The four-day retreat helps students identify their values and gain confidence in their leadership skills through self-assessment, intensive small-group discussions, team-building challenges, and more.

Computing Learning Center

Finals are approaching. Get help now! The College of Computing Learning Center (CCLC), on the first floor of Rekhi Hall, Room 118, is staffed by upper-level undergraduate students and supported by the College of Computing. The friendly CCLC coaches are available to help succeed in your computing courses. No appointments are necessary. Free. Open to all students taking computing classes. This fall, the Learning Center is open Sunday-Friday according to the schedule here.
