OUR STORIES: Kay Oliver, Academic Advisor
Chances are good that you’ve met Kay Oliver, our academic advisor for all College of Computing graduate-level majors, and the undergraduate majors in the Applied Computing department (CNSA, EET, Cybersecurity, Mechatronics). Here’s a bit of background.
Oliver has an M.A. in educational technology from Michigan State University and a B.S. in physics from Western Michigan University. For more than 20 years she worked with the Department of Defense Education Activity, a government agency responsible for K-12 education of children of American citizens working internationally for the DoD. Dr. Leo Ureel is seeking motivated students to join his research group. We are forming Educational Software projects involving Code Critiquers, Modeling and Simulation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Language Parsers, Internet of Things, and Online Magazine Publishing. Be part of a team developing educational software for Desktops, Web, and Mobile Devices in languages such as Java, Groovy, Python, Racket, Javascript, and Swift. Don't miss this chance to learn while engaging in cutting-edge research, co-authoring scientific papers, and developing academic contacts. We meet on Fridays at 2pm. Undergraduate Research Internship (URIP)
- Paid internship is from September 2021 through mid-April 2022.
- Open to any undergraduate student on campus with an identified faculty research mentor.
- Accepted students earn up to $1,600, paid at $10/hour, over the course of the internship.

NEED TO KNOW
- Michigan Tech has modified its graduation celebration planned for April 30, 2021, to allow families and guests to participate alongside their graduate. As announced in an email to students, the University will host a graduation walk through campus. Students may invite up to six guests to walk with them. Details, including the start times, will be announced shortly. A signup link was emailed to all eligible graduates on March 22. More info here.

the University number three among all colleges in Michigan.
