Niusen Chen, CS, Receives Outstanding Scholarship Award
Computer Science Ph.D. student Niusen Chen has received the Outstanding Scholarship Award from the Michigan Tech Graduate School. Niusen’s graduate advisor is Bo Chen, associate professor, Computer Science department. Niusen will be presented with a Certificate of Recognition at the Graduate Student Government award ceremony this spring; he will also be identified by name in the appropriate commencement programs. CyberCorps Scholarship Info Session Is Feb. 21
Michigan Tech’s CyberCorps team will host a student info session on Feb. 21, 5-6 p.m. in Rekhi 112 or online. Find out more about the Scholarship for Service opportunity at the session. All computing students (CS/SE, CNSA, Cybersecurity, EE/CE, and MIS) may apply for the scholarship. Students from non-computing disciplines, but with a strong interest in cybersecurity, may also apply. Learn more.
Two New Summer Courses
The Department of Applied Computing has added two classes to its summer course offerings, below. Learn more and ink to the full list of summer classes here.
- SAT 2711 – Linux Fundamentals will be available online this summer.
- EET 3144 – Introduction to Industrial Robotics is available as a hybrid course
Workshop: Ecology in Python Is March 6-7
An online Data Carpentry workshop, Ecology in Python, will take place March 6-7, daily 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The workshop teaches data analysis and visualization in Python using an ecology dataset. Free for all Michigan Tech students, faculty, and staff. Register by Feb. 24. Space is limited.

Computing Learning Center
Get the help you need. The College of Computing Learning Center (CCLC), on the first floor of Rekhi Hall, Room 118, is staffed by upper-level undergraduate students and supported by the College of Computing. The friendly CCLC coaches are available to help succeed in your computing courses. No appointments are necessary. Free. Open to all students taking computing classes. This fall, the Learning Center is open Sunday-Friday according to the schedule here.
