We are excited to be together during the Fall semester! To do so safely and efficiently, we are planning for every possible scenario. We’ve created a few resources to help you plan for what your registered student organization (RSO) operations may look like as we navigate our current situation.
Please note that Michigan Technological University will adhere to state and federal guidelines related to event size, public gatherings, and health and safety protocol. As you’ve already experienced, these guidelines can change rapidly and will require us to remain flexible and have a plan A, B, and C for your RSO operations. We want you and your RSO to be as successful as possible, regardless of what plan we must use, and we hope these resources help with that!
RSO Considerations for Planning a Meeting/Event During COVID-19
RSO meetings and events will be possible and planning should moving forward in accordance with the current campus level - that status can be found here. To begin planning for Fall 2020, please use Level 3 as a starting point. With that in mind, please review our planning guide and note that all meetings/events held on-campus are required to follow all current university health & safety expectations. In addition, we have created an Event Planning Worksheet to assist you as you plan (CLICK HERE for a Google Sheet version of the worksheet).
RSO Considerations for Off-Campus Shared Housing During COVID-19
Living in off-campus housing, especially with numerous housemates/organization members, carries some risk of contracting pandemic diseases as well as common seasonal illnesses such as the flu. However, there are many activities that, if incorporated into daily habits, can improve healthy living conditions for living off-campus. Knowing how COVID-19 is spread, and understanding the preventative steps needed to slow the spread, can help housemates/members avoid contracting and preventing the transmission of infectious diseases to others.
With that in mind, please review our planning guide for helpful recommendations on creating and maintaining a healthy housing environment.
RSO Considerations for Physical Activities and Club Sports During COVID-19
Planning Guide for Physical Activities and Club Sports During COVID-19 - COMING SOON
Different sports and activities are thought to have different levels of risk involved in spread and infection. However, they do all pose a risk and we want our RSO members to be as safe and healthy as possible. Each RSO may consider a return to practice/activity in the fall over the course of the following weeks to months, depending on which phase the local, state or national government allows and which level the university is at.
We recommend going through a thoughtful, team-based approach with your RSO members and advisor when considering return to practice and competition. We’ve provided prompts in the planning guide to assist you in developing a plan.
