Biography

Hyeun Joong Yoon received his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ajou University, Korea. He was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan between 2010 to 2015. Prior to joining Michigan Tech, he was an assistant professor at the University of Nevada Reno and South Dakota State University.

Dr. Yoon’s current research is to develop advanced bioMEMS tools for understanding cell trafficking in cancer through isolation, characterization, and study of circulating tumor cells in the peripheral blood of cancer patients.

His goal is to create cutting edge engineering solutions to clinical problems with novel translational biomedical research tools. He has published more than 20 journal papers including Nature Nanotechnology, Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, Sensors and Actuators A, B, etc.
