Mail Services

COVID-19 Temporary Change in Services

Mail Services will continue to pick up and sort the mail from the US Postal Service daily. Daily delivery to campus departments will be suspended, with special exceptions granted by request. Please contact Rodney Thompson (906-487-3500) or email mail-services-l@mtu.edu to request a delivery exception. Departments are required to designate an individual to pick up and drop off their department mail bag twice weekly, unless the department determines less frequent mail service is sufficient to conduct minimum basic operations or special arrangements have been requested. Departments are welcome to pick up mail daily, if desired. It is important that the mail bag is returned to Mail Services when picking up the mail. ONLY departments who already have a mail bag are required to designate a staff member to pick up mail in Mail Services. View a list of these departments.

UPS and FedEx packages will be delivered to Central Central receiving and will be held for delivery after April 13. If you are a critical infrastructure employee who is authorized to be on campus at this time and is waiting on a shipment to complete a job, please email centralreceiving-l@mtu.edu for verification.

Mail Services will be open 8:30 a.m.–noon and 12:30–3:30 p.m. daily for mail/package pick up and drop off. Mail Services is located on the garden level (ground floor) of the Administration Building. Park in Lot 1 or the visitor lot (V1, on US-41) , walk down the drive/walkway to the west side of the building, and enter through the west entrance. Look for the sandwich board sign directing you to the correct entrance. Signs will also be posted on the entrance door.

Mail Services will continue to process bulk mailings, as needed. Please contact Crystal Verran (ceverran@mtu.edu or 906-487-3526) to discuss the details of your mailing.

Social Distancing

Consistent with the Governor's "Stay Home, Stay Safe" order, social distancing rules are in effect at Mail Services. You will see signage regarding drop off and pick up location. Please respect the signage and ensure that there are a minimum of six feet between all persons at all times.

Mail Services inside University Marketing and Communications is a full-service mail processing center providing mail delivery to campus departments. Mail Services' staff assists with mailing and shipping—one item or even thousands—and finds the best rates.

Mail Services is located on the Garden Level (G40) of the Administration Building.

Departments located in the Administration and Student Services Building can pick up and drop off their mail in the Student Services Center (103 admin bldg).

We have limited bulk mailing capabilities at this time. If you have a bulk mailing with which you need assistance, email Mail Services.
