Eligibility
Any faculty member in the College except those who have already won the campus Research Award, or who currently hold a University Professorship, Distinguished Professorship, Endowed Professorship, or Endowed Chair. Eligible faculty definition includes tenured, tenure-track, instructional, and research positions.
Criteria
Candidate has demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas:
- Research
- Entrepreneurship
- Innovation
- Technology Transfer
- Graduate Education
Application package
- One-page nomination letter from Department
- 3-page (maximum) document describing the nature of the accomplishments
- Full C.V.
- Google Scholar summary report of publications, citations, and h-index where appropriate. Include Google Scholar link.
- No recommendation letters
- No copies of publications, patents, etc.

College of Engineering Early Career Research Excellence Award
Eligibility
Any faculty member in the College who is in their tenth year or less of faculty service at Michigan Tech and elsewhere. Eligible faculty definition includes tenured, tenure-track, instructional, and research positions.
Criteria
Candidate has demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas:
- Research
- Entrepreneurship
- Innovation
- Technology Transfer
- Graduate Education

- One-page nomination letter from Department
- 3-page (maximum) document describing the nature of the accomplishments

College of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award
Eligibility
Any faculty member in the College except those who have already won a campus Teaching Award. Eligible faculty definition includes tenured, tenure-track, instructional, and research positions.
Criteria
Candidate has demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas:
- Outstanding teaching
- Innovative teaching methods
- Innovations in curriculum design
- Innovations in Senior Design or laboratory experiences
- Excellence in advising and mentoring undergraduate or graduate students
Application package
- One-page nomination letter from Department
- 3-page (maximum) document describing the nature of the accomplishments, including summaries of student teaching evaluations and/or peer teaching evaluations where appropriate
- Documentation of teaching evaluations (Jackson Center and/or peer)
- Full C.V.
- No recommendation letters
Additional Data
COE Awards Committee may work with Jackson Center for Teaching and Learning to poll students currently enrolled in nominees’ courses.

College of Engineering Service Excellence Award
Eligibility
Any faculty member in the College. Eligible faculty definition includes tenured, tenure-track, instructional, and research positions.
Criteria
Candidate has demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas:
- Mentoring of faculty and/or staff
- Service well above and beyond normal expectations to the Department and/or College and/or University
- Promoting an inclusive commUNITY environment for employees and students
- Service to student and/or community groups
