As we say goodbye to our graduates, Transportation Services coordinates the parking and traffic around the Student Development Complex. Parking Enforcement Officers will be posted throughout the area for all Commencement Ceremonies to assist the attendees.
All parking lots around the SDC are available for Commencement including:
- Lot 22 - Including additional Disability parking
- Lot 23
- Lot 24

Parking in Lot 28 and Lot 29 is prohibited during Commencement as it is reserved parking.
One of the most exciting times on campus is during the Fall Move-in when we welcome new students to campus and welcome back our returning students.
Parking and traffic can get congested, but moves efficiently. Parking on campus in the visitor areas is complimentary and we work closely with Residential Living to assist in a fluid traffic plan for each Residential Hall.
When checking in at the Library, you can utilize the visitor parking spaces on Houghton Avenue, Hubbell Street, Lot 12, Lot 13, and Lot 27. Overflow, truck, and trailer parking is in Lot 1. There is Disability parking located throughout campus.
Once unloading of your vehicle is complete, all students, parents, friends, and family will proceed up to the SDC and park in Lot 22 or Lot 23 to take the shuttle back to campus.
Each January we are happy to welcome the Leading Scholar program to campus. During eight days throughout January and February incoming students compete, network, and meet for the Leading Scholarship Award in the Rozsa Center. To help accommodate the parking for our incoming students and their families, we reserve specific parking lots around the Rozsa to help out.
Communication will be sent out to all of those affected by these temporary changes once we're closer to the date.
Typically, most events that would include parking arrangements at the Memorial Union Building (MUB) occur after enforcement hours, but throughout the year several events do occur during the academic session when parking is enforced. Parking after 4 p.m. includes Houghton Avenue, Hubbell Street, College Avenue, and Lot 27. Disability parking is available near each entrance.
Transportation Services works very closely with the MUB staff when that occurs and parking options are provided on a case-by-case basis.
If you are attending an event at the MUB and are unsure of the parking arrangements, please contact the MUB staff or Transportation Services.
Most events at the Rozsa Center or McArdle Theatre occur after normal enforcement hours and parking is complimentary, however if an event is occurring during the day when parking enforcement is in session, please check with the Rozsa Box Office for information on parking.
For Event Parking, review the Parking Page on the Rozsa's webpage.
During larger events, Transportation Services will provide parking and traffic control to assist attendees. Please drive with caution and adhere to all instructions provided to you by the parking officers. Review the maps below for more information:
- Rozsa Event Parking Lots
- Disability Parking
- Rozsa 15-Minute Visitor Parking
- Drop-Off and Pick-Up Zone
Please remember that Cliff Drive is a one-way road going from west to east.
Plan accordingly and arrive early as the nearby parking lots fill up fast for popular events.
Parking is included in the purchase price of your admission ticket to an athletic event. Michigan Tech Athletics provides information regarding Parking on their webpage. Although more detailed information is located on Athletic's webpage, general parking lots for athletic games include:
Parking in Lot 23 is strictly prohibited as that is a Residential student parking lot and is enforced 24/7 for permit.
Please review the information below for Tailgating information:
Spring Move-Out presents unique parking challenges. Unlike Move-In, when most students arrive at the same time, Move-Out occurs throughout Finals Week, with students leaving at different times.
In recent years, we’ve improved our process to better accommodate students and their families, making Move-Out more convenient and efficient.
Transportation Services will establish temporary 15-minute loading zones outside each residence hall. We ask that you have your belongings packed and ready before using these spaces. These zones are intended for quick, short-term parking to load your vehicle and then move along so others can use them.
If you need to park closer to your residence hall while packing, complimentary parking is available in Lot 10W. Once you’re packed and ready to leave, you can retrieve your vehicle and bring it to the loading zone.
Please follow the instructional signs and follow instructions of any Enforcement Officers that may be in the area.
During the summer, there are several Orientation Sessions put on by the Waino Wahtera Center for Student Success. Transportation Services has an important role by assisting with parking and traffic flow during these events. Parking on campus in the visitor areas is complimentary during Orientation Sessions.
Please follow any instructions provided by an enforcement officer along with closely paying attention to traffic signage.
Every February, Michigan Tech's Blue Key Club hosts Winter Carnival.
Many events are on campus including the All-Nighter snow statue competition, Broomball All-Star Tourney, Sled Dog Rides.
Transportation Services offer several complimentary parking options during the Winter Carnival celebration. This page will be updated once we get closer to the event.
