Van Rentals
- Vans are for official University-related travel only.
- Passenger capacity is a maximum of 10 occupants in a 12- or 15-passenger van.
- Student Groups who want to reserve a vehicle must also submit an approved Student Organization Vehicle Request Form—Husky Motors can't reserve a vehicle to you without it.
Van Certification Required
Eligible drivers must successfully complete online van training prior to renting or driving our passenger or cargo vans from Husky Motors. Take the training at your convenience (it takes approximately 30 minutes), from any computer.
- Request Van Certification Training
- Submit your request using your @mtu.edu email address
- Training must be completed by the following Monday at 8 a.m.
- Once we have processed your request, you will receive a confirmation email with instructions and a link to the Safety Skills-Online Safety Training Login from the Michigan Tech Training Center.
- After watching the training video, complete and pass the required quiz. You will receive a confirmation email upon successful completion of the course.
- You must create an account in FleetCommander if you have not already done so.
Upon successful completion, email Husky Motors to have your FleetCommander account access updated.
Pickup Truck Rentals
- Trucks are for official University-related travel only.
- Passenger capacity is a maximum of 5 occupants in a quad-cab pickup.
- Trucks approved for towing are available upon request. Prior approval from Husky Motors is required to tow a trailer. A towing fee of $10 per day will be added to your rental. Husky Motors does have a limited number of trailer ball receivers in several sizes from 1 7/8" to 2 5/16".
- Although trucks are approved for off-road field work, careful consideration should be given when selecting an appropriate off-road option. Any towing and recovery costs may be the responsibility of the rental group, depending on the circumstances.
- Trucks are approved for carrying a maximum of 1,750 lb. payload capacity and a 9,000 lb. towing capacity.
