In some cases, professional licensure is required by states in order for a graduate to be employed in their profession. For programs designed or advertised to meet the educational requirements for professional licensure, specific information must be made publicly available to prospective and current students.
While Michigan Tech is an accredited institution and holds professional accreditation for many programs, states may have different educational requirements for the same licensed profession. In order to assist students in making informed decisions about the programs they enroll in, institutions are required to provide information about how a program meets, or does not meet, the educational requirements for professional licensure in different states and territories.
State licensing boards often have additional requirements for licensure (e.g., fingerprinting, background checks, examinations), as well as different application processes and fee structures. It is highly recommended that students confirm licensure requirements in their chosen profession and state prior to enrolling in a professional licensure program. While a program provided by Michigan Tech may meet the educational requirements, completion of a degree does not guarantee employment or overall eligibility for licensure. Please refer to the professional licensing board in the state of interest for additional requirements.
Information on Michigan Tech's licensure programs is provided below.
Notifications
If a student applies to a licensure program at Michigan Tech from a state where the program does not meet the educational requirements, or if it cannot be determined either way, the student will be directly notified before making any financial commitments.
The student's home address at the time of application will be used for determining these notifications.
Michigan Tech makes efforts to ensure these disclosures are up-to-date, but state requirements can change without notice. Should a program be found to no longer meet the educational requirements in a state, notifications will be sent directly to any impacted students within 14 days of making that determination.
