MS in Mechatronics

At the intersection of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and computer hardware and software, Mechatronics is the design and implementation of modern automated systems for manufacturing and process control.  It lies at the heart of the 21st century paradigm known as “Industry 4.0.”

An Interdisciplinary Degree Program

The M.S. in Mechatronics at Michigan Tech is an interdisciplinary effort between the College of Computing's Department of Applied Computing and the College of Engineering's Department of Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MMET). M.S. in Mechatronics coursework and labs incorporate elements of engineering, engineering technology, and computing. What sets this degree program apart is the way it brings together engineering and computing to create something entirely new. This convergence is the very essence of “Industry 4.0” and the future of manufacturing and industry.

I was looking for a discipline that combines Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science, and the Mechatronics program has been the right answer for that. Faculty in the program always make themselves available to students, and they have been instrumental in my success through their teaching, guiding, and mentoring.
