Innovation and Commercialization

Intellectual Property Policy Information

Michigan Tech policies on intellectual property are designed in recognition of a number of factors, including the investment of the state and other public funds in the creation, maintenance, and operation of Michigan Tech's facilities and the pay received by employees. The Office of Innovation and Commercialization abides by these rules and regulations as articulated in the Michigan Tech Board of Trustees Policy Manual.

In general, all employees are required to assign the rights of any invention they create while they are employees at Michigan Tech. Books, articles, manuscripts, and works of art (except to the extent that they contain proprietary information related to inventions or computer software) are not included in these policies under Michigan Tech Operating Procedures 11.1.

These sections of the Michigan Tech Board of Trustees Policy Manual are relevant to Intellectual Property issues.
