  • I'll be starting my senior year as a Mechanical Engineering student this fall. I have been a LEAP leader (Engineering TA) and president of Keweenaw Pride, MTU's LGBT+ organization. This will be my second time being a Husky Connect mentor and I look forward to meeting and working with my mentees!

Biography

  • Hello! My name is Anna Browne and I am a fourth year electrical engineering student here at Michigan Tech with a strong interest in renewable energy and printed circuit boards. On campus, I am a Resident Assistant, a Research Assistant, I work in the Housing Office, and I am a Husky Connect Mentor for the second year. I am also heavily involved with LeaderShape, the IPC & Electronics Student Chapter, and National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH). I am currently the President and Founder of the IPC & Electronics Student Chapter, and will be the Conference Chair and Recruitment Chair for NRHH. As far as personal stuff goes, I am a trans woman, and am very interested in advocacy. I love being a role model for others, and that desire constantly pushes me to be a better individual. I also really enjoy nature, hiking, driving, and music. I am so happy that you are interested in this program!

  • I'm going to be a second year Computer Science major in Fall 2019. Some organizations I am a part of are Women in Computing Sciences (WiCS), Society of Intellectual Sisters (SIS), and Women's Lacrosse. I'm so excited to be a mentor this year because I was a mentee last year!

  • I'm going into my fourth year here at Michigan Tech-- I am majoring in Biology and have no focus thus far. I am a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity on campus as well as working at the Wadsworth Hall front desk and with the Summer Youth Programs. Find me on campus and say hi!

  • Hey! I’m LaMarea, or Mars for short. I am a Mathematical Sciences Major and I am ridiculously excited about this opportunity to develop my leadership skills as well as learn about incoming students hardships and how I can help! I am a member of the Black Student Association, as well as the National Society of Black Engineers. I am very involved with the black students at Tech and the black community up here in general. I plan to become a professor one day at any community college or university. I can’t wait to get to know you or your incoming freshman, thank you so much for the opportunity!   • Hello incoming Huskies!! My name is Savannah, and I am going into my second year here at Tech. I am majoring in Exercise Science with a minor in psychology. I am on the Track & Field team, and I love to go out and take pictures and adventure around the area. Tech is a great place!

Biography

  • I am a fourth year environmental engineering major with a minor in environmental studies. I hope to use this degree to work in consulting or remediation and do great things for this planet! I've had an internship working for the UDSA Natural Resource Conservation Service and have worked for my professor on surface water related projects. On campus I also work for Housing and Residential Life as a Desk Receptionist in Wadsworth Hall. As the president of our book club on campus I get to meet a lot of new people from outside my major with similar interests to me. I am also a member of the Green Campus Enterprise, and love every second of it. I had a rough transition to life at Tech, and love to use what I learned to help incoming first year students navigate what can be a difficult time.

  • I've been involved in a lot of student organizations at Michigan Tech; Undergraduate Student Government, Black Student Association, National Society of Black Engineers, Built World Enterprise, Wadsworth Hall Student Association, Keewanaw Symphony Orchestra, MTU Cheer Team. I love being active in my campus community as well as promoting diverse and inclusion. I want to hopefully get a PhD in Environmental Engineering or an EdD in something Student Affairs related. Michigan Tech is a place I have fell in love with and has been able to provide me so many different opportunities to grow and improve as a person, leader, and student.
