Transfer Student Orientation

Welcome to Michigan Tech! We understand that this isn't your first college experience.  We also know every campus is different. That's why we offer a transfer orientation designed to help you get the specific information you need to be successful.

For the fall of 2021, transfer students will kick off their orientation programming by virtually attending the Departmental Introductions and Advisor Meetings during the morning of Monday, August 23.  This will be a great opportunity to meet some of the key people in each department, and to connect with an advisor and make a plan to complete fall registration.  Recordings of those meetings will also be available to watch starting on Tuesday, August 24.

We will also deliver a transfer student-specific orientation program in the late afternoon of Wednesday, August 25 on the Michigan Tech Campus.  That program will be available for in-person attendance, or live streamed from a remote location.  We will assemble a great set of resources and give transfer students a chance to hear from a panel of returning students who started at Michigan Tech as transfer students, as well as set up some ways for the incoming group of transfer students to interact with each other and get their questions answered.

Alternatively, transfer students may opt-in to first-year student orientation, a more comprehensive program that runs from Sunday, August 22 - Friday, August 27.  This program places all students in small teams based on their major and goes into more depth about resources, services and involvement.  It also gives students many opportunities to connect with their peers and build community across campus.  Please contact us if you are interested in exploring this option further.

We will be reaching out to you via your @mtu.edu email as well as updating this page with more information throughout the summer.
