Parents and family members also go through a major transition when their child or loved one starts college. We've got your back! Our orientation team is assembling a great set of resources to help you understand what to expect and how to prepare.
For the fall of 2021, we will use a hybrid approach, allowing parents and family members to access information both virtually and in-person. Our goal is to provide parents and family with multiple opportunities to access information to accommodate different travel schedules and preferences. We will use this website to collect the virtual resources leading up to move-in weekend, and those resources will remain available here throughout the fall semester.
We will kick our parents and family programming off with a live webcast on Thursday, August 5 from 4:30 - 6 p.m. EST. Here is a Zoom Link for Live Session. We will post a link to the recording here after August 5.
Our in-person programming for move-in weekend will entail three topical sessions that run concurrently.
The whole student: opportunities for engagement and well-being
Student Leadership and Involvement, Center for Student Mental Health and Well-being.
Planning for the future: career development and financial planning
With presenters from Career Services, Enterprise, Study Abroad, and Financial Aid
Fall semester for your student: challenges, opportunities and resources
With presenters from the Wahtera Center.
This cluster of three breakout sessions will be held twice during move-in weekend in Fisher Hall Rooms 135, 138, and 139.
- 6:30-7:30 PM Friday, August 20
- 9-10 AM Sunday, August 22
Please arrive to Fisher hall a few minutes early and we will direct you to the different sessions.
We will provide pre-recorded versions of the same breakout session on this website starting the week of August 14.
All parent and family programming will be complete by 10 a.m. on Sunday, August 22. Please plan on saying your goodbyes shortly thereafter, as your student will begin their week-long orientation just after noon that day.
