Hosting a Visiting Scholar

The opportunity to conduct research at Michigan Technological University provides exposure to a university community of scholars as diverse as the educational and research experiences they are able to provide. Michigan Tech strives to improve the world through interdisciplinary endeavors that span engineering, sciences and arts, technology, forestry, and business. We prepare our graduates, faculty and staff to make significant and meaningful contributions to a global, multicultural society. We consider the most important measure of our success to be the achievements of our faculty and students.

When hosting a visiting scholar, the following should be coordinated to meet the needs of the scholar:

  • If an international scholar, visit International Programs and Services(IPS) for more information on hosting an international scholar. If not international, the hosting department will assist the scholar.
    • In order to obtain a Michigan Tech Express ID card, the scholar will need to visit the Tech Express office once they arrive on campus.

Please remember when hosting a visiting scholar, they may require the following:

  • Office space, a telephone and computer access
  • Department tour
  • Campus tour - Admissions
  • Library tour (call 7-2500 to schedule)
