Structure of the Training Process
The Safe Place Ally Training Program educates Michigan Tech faculty, staff, and graduate students about LGBTQIA+ identities, the needs of LGBTQIA+ students, the coming out process, ways to create an inclusive campus environment, and the resources available on and off campus.
Utilizing video diaries from students and identity activities, the Michigan Tech Safe Place Program is designed to be a comprehensive and in-depth resource. Structured as four steps, the training takes approximately four hours from beginning to end and is broken into two sessions. Faculty and staff who signed up to be Safe Place Allies prior to June 2017 are asked to register for Safe Place training.
