Initiating Proposal (Level 2)

Second Stage: Project Initiation

Everything you need to get started with submitting a proposal through the ICC:

The first step to any proposal is for us to submit an Intent to Submit form to notify sponsored programs, even if you aren't sure you will end up submitting. In order to standardize the completion of these forms, the ICC requests that members reach out to the ICC staff with proposal information and we will complete the form for you.

The ICC will add your deadlines to our calendar, handle the creation of the proposal in Cayuse, and can assist you with budget creation, create a research.gov workspace, and establish contact with subrecipients (if any) in this stage

Preparing Proposal (Level 3)

Third Stage: Proposal Preparation

ICC Staff can largely help with your non-science tasks, from budget creation to developing background documents. Documents must be submitted and tasks must be completed by 7AM on their respective deadlines, which can be viewed using the Deadline Calculator.

What resources are available for non-science documents?

  • The Center for AI has developed a tool to generate several non-science documents, including budget justifications and facilities/equipment/other resources documents.
  • If creating an NSF proposal, check out our Templates Page for common agency-specific document templates.
  • For Data Management Plans, consider using the DMP Tool.
  • ICC Staff is able to assist with all non-science documents. Please reach out for document-specific help.

The proposal preparation process is broken down below between the dropdowns:

Does your project have subrecipients?

If so, fill out the Vendor Classification Checklist as soon as possible and send to your sponsored programs analyst. Subrecipient documentation is due 10 days before the sponsor deadline, so it is important to initiate these processes early.

 Interested in project coordination?

ICC Staff can serve as project coordinators on your research project, aiding in project organization, deadline management, and in arranging meetings and deliverables. Please inform ICC staff if you are interested in this service.
