An Interdisciplinary Effort for Change

The Food, Energy Water Conscious (FEWCON) project is a collaborative initiative involving social, computer, and engineering scientists from six institutions, including Michigan Technological University and Arizona State University. The project aims to understand household roles in climate change mitigation, identify technology and information barriers, promote sustainable decision-making, and explore opportunities in household technology. The researchers conducted a nationwide survey, interviews, and a long-term study in one county to compile a comprehensive FEWCON Project Database. The team created a role-playing game called F.E.W. Choices to help players understand the environmental impact of the food, energy, and water choices households make daily.
