Data Science
The BS in Data Science program is currently pursuing ABET accreditation.
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
Within a few years after graduation, graduates of the program are expected to:
- PEO1: Contribute to substantial computing projects by employing theories and practices of computing, mathematics, statistics, and data science;
- PEO2: Engage in continuous learning and professional development to maintain technical competence and adapt to evolving technologies and challenges;
- PEO3: Take on increased responsibilities in planning and coordinating team efforts to construct effective and financially sound computing solutions;
- PEO4: Make ethical, informed, responsible, and risk-aware decisions in professional settings
Student Outcomes (SOs)
Graduates of the program will have an ability to:
- SO1: Analyze a complex computing problem and apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
- SO2: Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
- SO3: Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
- SO4: Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
- SO5: Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
- SO6: Apply theory, techniques, and tools throughout the data science lifecycle and employ the resulting knowledge to satisfy stakeholders’ needs. [DS]
