Bob Lane grew up on a family farm in southern Michigan and graduated from Addison High School where he developed his love for chemistry. He enrolled in Michigan Technological University in the fall of 1968. While at Tech, Bob took just about every chemistry course that was offered and graduated with high honors in 1972. Laura earned her BS in Chemistry from the University of Costa Rica in 1991 and her PhD in Chemistry from Michigan Technological University in 1995. She was awarded a 3-year NIH grant to conduct research at Carnegie Mellon University. Next, she dedicated 9 years studying the biology of Zaire Ebola virus infection. Sarah Carlson is Associate Chief of Surgery for Operations at the VA Boston Medical Center, and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Boston University. Dr. Carlson graduated magna cum laude from MTU with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 2003 and then attended the University of Michigan Medical School, where she earned a master’s degree in clinical research and an MD in 2008.
