Alumni and Friends

James Spain was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Arlington, Virginia.  At the age of 11, he moved to Florida, and at 17 to New Orleans, Louisiana, where he graduated from High School.  He earned a BS in Chemistry from Michigan College of Mining and Technology (now Michigan Technological University) in 1951.  He went on to earn his MS in Biochemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1953 and his PhD in Chemistry . . .

Born in Green Bay, Wisconsin, John Christianson grew up blocks from Lambeau Field during the Lombardi Glory Years which instilled in him a love of sports and competition. He graduated from Green Bay Southwest High School with high honors, while playing on the tennis team, participating in newspaper and forensics, and tutoring his classmates in chemistry, physics and calculus, foreshadowing his eventual career choice . . .

Feifei came to Michigan Tech to study chemistry, earning her PhD in 1994. Her other degrees include both Bachelor and Master degrees in polymeric material science and engineering from East China University of Science and Technology. Prior to coming to Tech as a PhD candidate, she worked as an engineer for Shanghai Pharmaceutical Industrial Design Institute. After completing her studies at Michigan Tech, she accepted . . .
