Whether or not you’re a member of the Michigan Tech campus community, the RV Agassiz is available for your use. But depending on which group you fall into, there are slightly different steps to take in order to make a reservation to use the RV Agassiz.

Please follow these instructions closely to ensure your voyage aboard the RV Agassiz gets on the books and to help your trip go as smoothly as possible.

Instructions for on-campus users

  1. Check the Agassiz planning calendar to find an available date and time.
  2. Students, staff, and faculty must fill out our online reservation form.
  3. Complete a float plan.

Submit one copy of your float plan electronically to floatplan-l@mtu.edu, and bring one hardcopy with you when you depart to make any last-minute adjustments immediately before boarding.

You will receive confirmation of your reservation from an RV Agassiz staff member. Operational weeks run Sunday through Saturday. On the Friday before the week in which your reservation is scheduled, contact your assigned captain to confirm departure times and set contingency plans for poor weather.

Instructions for off-campus users

  1. Check the Agassiz planning calendar to find an available date and time.
  2. Contact Jamey Anderson, Assistant Director of Great Lakes Research Center Marine Operations, at 906-487-2914 or agassiz-l@mtu.edu.
