Answers to frequently asked questions about the vaccine and the State’s vaccination program are available in a regularly updated PDF and on the Michigan.gov vaccine FAQs web page. The PDF and web page contain different questions, so please be sure to check both.
When can I get the COVID-19 vaccine through Michigan Tech?
Vaccine prioritization is set by the State. Michigan Tech does not determine who receives the vaccine or when, although we are actively working with the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department and local health care providers to attempt to get vaccines on campus for employees and students as soon as possible.
In the meantime, some students and employees may qualify for the vaccine based on other factors. We encourage those individuals to work through their personal health care provider and/or their local health department to obtain the vaccine as soon as they can.
I am vaccinated for COVID-19. Do I need to participate in COVID-19 testing?
If you have received all recommended doses of the vaccine at least two weeks prior, please do not participate in testing. If you develop symptoms of COVID-19, consult with your health care provider to determine if testing is necessary.
I am a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case, but I am vaccinated. Do I need to quarantine?
If your close contact with the COVID-19 case happened at least two weeks after you had received all recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, and you do not have symptoms of COVID-19, then you do not need to quarantine and you may come to campus, unless you are advised otherwise by your health care provider or the Western Upper Peninsula Health Department.
I am vaccinated, but have symptoms of COVID-19. Can I come to campus?
If you received all recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at least two weeks prior and have developed symptoms of COVID-19, you need to remain away from campus until you are fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and any other symptoms are improving.
If you have not already done so, please report your symptoms through the Daily Symptom Monitoring Form.

Will Michigan Tech require vaccination for faculty, staff, and students?
MTU leadership strongly urges members of the community to receive the vaccine when it is available to them in order to ensure the health and safety of our campus.
