From senior design projects and Enterprise teams to research opportunities, industry-standard learning labs, and internships and co-ops, applied computing students prepare for today's workplace through hundreds of hours of hands-on learning and practice. Michigan Tech's annual Design Expo showcases student research and development activities and highlights hands-on, discovery-based learning at Michigan Tech.
The College of Computing is recognized by the National Security Agency as a Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (NSA CAE-CD). And the BS in Cybersecurity degree is a validated CAE Program of Study (PoS). The excellence of our Mechatronics programs is assured through our work with the Industrial Advisory Board. And our undergraduate programs in Information Technology (IT) and Electrical Engineering Technology are accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org.
Applied computing faculty and students are working to meet the needs of the US cybersecurity workforce through the NSF CyberCorps Scholarship for Service program and the NSF/NSA GenCyber program for K-12 students and teachers. In Mechatronics, partnerships with community colleges, non-profits, and industry are working to train a new generation of professionals to lead the surge in advanced manufacturing in northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

What I love about the College of Computing is its immense diversity of course offerings where I can specialize my degree in the way I see myself using it in my future professional career. My program allows me to choose to be more engaged in the computer systems that power mechatronics, or to focus more on the robotic systems and for more hands-on approach to what I'll actually be using in my career.
