Bio:
Dr. Xin Li is an Assistant Professor of Finance in the College of Business at Michigan Technological University. He earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the Carl H. Lindner College of Business at the University of Cincinnati. He also holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor’s degree in Public Finance from the Central University of Finance and Economics in China. His research focuses on asset pricing, fixed income securities, financial intermediation, fintech, and risk management. His work has been published in journals such as Management Science, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, and China Finance Review International. One of his papers was a semifinalist for the FMA Best Paper Award in 2023. He also received the Spencer Doctoral Candidate Scholarship ($10,000) from the Spencer Educational Foundation in 2020 for his dissertation research.
Dr. Li currently teaches Principles of Finance, Advanced Financial Management, and Financial Risk Management and Decision Making at the graduate level at Michigan Technological University. He has also previously taught courses in risk management and investments. His teaching has been recognized with a Teacher of the Year Award in 2022, and he was a finalist for the Distinguished Teaching Award at Michigan Technological University in 2025.
