Banner 9 Admin will provide a modern, mobile-friendly experience. Java will no longer be required.

• Banner 9 Admin is completely web-based.
• Banner 9 Admin may be accessed from anywhere. Please note that a VPN connection will be required if accessing Banner 9 Admin off-campus.
• Some of the keyboard shortcuts have changed.
• Some locally developed forms have been converted to WebFOCUS reports. 
• eports previously run through GZAORPT have been/will be converted to WebFocus; those that have not can be run from apps.mtu.edu under Banner and Oracle Reports Lookup.

Can I use multiple browser windows to view multiple pages at once?

Yes, multiple sessions of Banner 9 Admin may be viewed at the same time.

Yes, keyboard shortcuts will be available.

Banner 9 Admin pages will use keyboard shortcuts, but there will be some changes due to the forms moving to a web interface where some keyboard options already have assigned actions. You can review the Banner 9 keyboard shortcuts here.

Banner 9 Admin will require significant work to migrate custom forms to the new version. This update provides an opportunity for us to review our custom forms to determine if pages need to persist or can be retired. Some custom forms have been converted to WebFOCUS reports. If you don't see a form in Banner 9 Admin, check here to see if it has been converted to a report or will be a Banner 9 Admin page. If the form is being converted to Banner 9 Admin, continue to use Banner 8 to access the custom form until it's available in Banner 9 Admin.

How do I know if a form is a custom form?

Any form that has a Z as the second letter is considered a custom form. Some examples are SZAASCP, SZAINSU, and SZVBLDG.

Please note, job submissions that have a Z as the second letter are in the process of being converted and will remain the same for the most part.

Users must use the VPN to access Banner 9 Admin from off-campus locations. Please contact it-help@mtu.edu for help accessing the VPN.

Banner 9 Admin has improved the searching process. You can search for character strings in fields with search options like “Contains,” “Starts With,” and “Ends With,” rather than using wildcard characters. 

The Banner 9 Admin page GUISRCH lets you search for a record using an area code, phone number or email. Only one search per field (email, area code and phone number) is possible at a time.

Email searches aren't case-sensitive but require the wildcard operator ('%') if you only have part of an email address. Without the wildcard, the entire email address must be entered.

Phone number searches use either the area code, phone number or both. Parts of the area code and phone number are searchable, both with and without wildcards.

Activity information has moved to the bottom of the page in Banner 9 Admin. To view this information, view a record on the page (ex, SFASPRO) and look at the bottom of your browser window. The Activity Date and Activity User are listed there.

Banner 9 Admin may be accessed by any supported web browser.  Your ISO User ID and password (email) are used to access Banner 9 Admin.

My Banner is still available and is found under the menu in the top-left corner. You will also see a list of recently-used pages for quick access.

>How do I add items to My Banner?

1. Go to the "My Banner Maintenance" form (GUAPMNU).
2. Click the Insert button near the top right corner to add a new row to the "Object Selection" box.
3. In the Object column of the "Object Selection" box, type the seven-letter acronym of the form you want to add (e.g. type GOAEMAL to add the "E-mail Address").
4. Hit the Enter key to save your change.
5. Use steps 2 through 4 to add additional pages.
6. Once you have added all desired options, click the Save button in the bottom-right corner to save.
7. Log out of Banner 9 Admin.
8. Log back into Banner 9 Admin and confirm that the My Banner option is available with the pages you configured.

Yes, you can print the on-screen output with the Print option found under the Tools menu near the top-right corner of a page. Alternatively, you can use the Control + P keyboard shortcut to print.

No, Banner 9 Admin pages currently use a global theme. All users of an instance will have the same color theme.
