Biography

Nich Radcliffe is Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor of Theatre. He teaches performance classes including Audition Techniques, Movement, Period Acting Styles, and Music Theatre Performance. Nich also teaches Stage Management and the Acting Capstone class.

Nich has enjoyed a twenty-five-year career in academic and professional theatre. He holds a BA in Theatre with an Acting/Shakespeare concentration and an MFA in Directing with a secondary focus in Dramaturgy/New Play Development. Spending the bulk of his career in Chicago, Nich’s performance resume runs the gamut from leading roles in Shakespeare (Benedic/Much Ado, Lysander & Oberon/Midsummer) to classic American drama (Stanley/Streetcar, Father/A Son at The Front) and Music Theatre (Jesus/JCS, Proprietor/Assassins) as well as several world premieres. Nich’s directing resume is equally diverse, ranging from Opera and Operetta (Music Shop, Die Fledermaus, Arizona Lady), to classic and world premiere musicals (The Music Man, Stalker, Sir Gawain & The Green Knight), Shakespeare, classic modern drama, and contemporary comedy (Macbeth, Crucible, Elephant Man, Picasso at The Lapine Agile) and several world premieres. An accomplished arts administrator Nich has held leadership positions in academic theatre, commercial theatre, and professional non-profit theatre. He is currently the Executive Artistic Director of Valiant Theatre, a company dedicated to new works marked by courage, valor, and determination – telling the stories of the valiant to inspire others to live life more valiantly.
