Biography
Jana Meckler is the conductor of Michigan Technological University’s Superior Wind Symphony and Campus Concert Band, and interim conductor of conScience: Michigan Tech Chamber Singers (Fall 2026). Additionally, she is a vocalist (performing name: Jana Nyberg) flautist and pianist originally from Minneapolis, MN. Jana performs professionally (The Jana Nyberg 5, The Jana Nyberg Group) and plays principal flute in the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra.
A sought-after performing/recording artist, Jana has collaborated with Gigamesh, The Adam Meckler Orchestra, Bill Carrothers, Jason Peterson DeLaire (Michael Bolton) Unus, Rass Kwame and more. She appeared on Season 10 of American Idol and has four full-length albums to date. Known for her expressive and soulful approach, she effortlessly shifts between genres.
