Biography

Mary Carol “M.C.” Friedrich is Professor Emerita of Design and Technical Theatre at Michigan Tech, where she taught costume, lighting, and scene design courses and costume history.  She has worked professionally for the Spoleto Festival USA, in Charleston, South Carolina, The Boston Lyric Opera, Massachusetts, and worked in Philadelphia for The Philadelphia Company, The Freedom Theatre, and The Drama Guild. M.C. is the 2005 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Faculty Fellow in Lighting. She has the Master of Fine Arts degree in design and technical theatre from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science degree in theatre education from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She has over thirty years of educational and professional theatrical experience on hundreds of productions. M.C. is an active member of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology.  She has conducted workshops and participated in panels on theatrical lighting and color science at international conferences.
