Ash Brown

Ash Brown is a multi-instrumentalist originally from rural Ohio. While at The College of Wooster, Ash primarily studied horn, piano, and Great Highland bagpipe, earning a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance in 2006. This was followed by a Master of Science in Information from the University of Michigan in library and information services as well as archives and records management. Ash became a core member of the Great Lakes Taiko Center in 2010 and remains actively engaged with the North American taiko community. As an avid learner, instructor, performer, and composer, Ash has gained proficiency playing shinobue, horagai, and other narimono instruments along with taiko. In addition to performing throughout the Midwest, Ash has had the opportunity to play at the Sakura Taiko Fest for the National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, DC on multiple occasions. In 2025, Ash joined the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra as a horn player and the Michigan Tech Library as its Collections Strategist Librarian.
