Tim Havens received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Missouri. Prior to joining Michigan Tech, he was an NSF/CRA Computing Innovation Postdoctoral Fellow at Michigan State University. Before his Ph.D. work, he was an Associate Technical Staff at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. Dr. Havens has been recognized for both his teaching and research accomplishments, having been awarded the 2014-15 Professor of the Year by the IEEE Eta Kappa Nu, Beta Gamma Chapter, and Best Paper Awards at FUZZ-IEEE 2012 and IEEE SMC 2011. His research has been funded by U.S. Navy, Office of Naval Research, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Ford Motor Company, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, Akela Inc., U.S. Army, Army Research Office, Michigan Department of Transportation, U.S. Department of Transportation, and National Science Foundation.
