MTU RedTeam

Since 2017, the Michigan Tech student RedTeam has been competing in national cybersecurity competitions, enhancing student cybersecurity skills and representing the Huskies on a national stage. In real-world operations, red teams are essential to helping organizations make improvements to run more securely. These experts are tasked with testing cybersecurity effectiveness, finding vulnerabilities, and addressing other critical issues that can put companies, industries, and individuals at risk.

In the 2024 RedTeam season, the Michigan Tech team was ranked 22nd in the national power rankings.

The MTU Redteam has received letters from Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and U.S. Senator Gary Peters recognizing the team's exceptional achievements and growth.

"I am truly grateful for all the contributions your team has made to our state. Led by your coach, Professor  Bo Chen, your team has managed to succeed in the ranks and demonstrate your collaborative effort and dedication to the National Cyber League. Your accomplishments remind me how immensely proud and humbled I am to represent a state so full of heart, determination, and resilience."Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer

"As Ranking Member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee, cybersecurity is one of my top priorities and it is great to see a Michigan university place so highly in this competition. This is a testament to the high quality education MTU provides to its students, and the result is certainly worthy of recognition."U.S. Senator Gary Peters
