Language Assessment

All international graduate students, whose first language is not English and who intend to be graduate teaching assistants must take the Michigan Tech English Language Assessment. This assessment takes about 15-30 minutes to complete and is shared only with departmental administration who use it to determine assignments within the department.

All international graduate students interested in improving their language skills and/or becoming more oriented to Michigan Tech's classroom culture are strongly encouraged to participate in the free, weekly, semester-long Graduate Language Assessment Support (GLAS) program.

Scheduling

The language assessment takes place in the Michigan Tech Testing Center, in Room 226, J.R. Van Pelt and Opie Library. Please come to the Michigan Tech Testing Center during open hours to schedule a time to take the assessment.
