Dr. Lark earned her doctoral degree in Science Education from Michigan State University. Her background is originally in the biological sciences, having earned a BSc in Biology from Oakland University and her MSc in Zoology from MSU. Dr. Lark’s research interests focus on reform-based science teaching and learning, with particular emphasis on the integration of science content and practices. For the past several years she has led a nationwide, multiple-case study on the influences of digital evolution on teaching and learning at the secondary and post-secondary levels. She has also developed curriculum that is aligned with national reforms such as the Next Generation Science Standards and Vision & Change (AAAS). Dr. Lark is currently co-PI on the Michigan Science Teaching and Assessment Reform (Mi-STAR) project, which aims to develop an integrated science curriculum for middle grades that will have important implications for student learning, pre-service science teacher preparation, and in-service science teacher professional development.
