Social Media

Social media has become an important part of the way we work and engage with the Michigan Tech community and audiences around the world. UMC supports the use of social media to share news, engage in conversations, and further Tech's strategic goals. Departments, colleges, and other campus units and initiatives are encouraged to evaluate which, if any, social media channels are appropriate for supporting their overall communications goals.

For University-wide guidelines and policies, please refer to the Michigan Tech Social Media Policy and Guidelines documents. All Official Social Media Accounts (OSA) are required to follow the social media policy and guidelines.

If you are planning to create a social media account, please contact UMC's social media manager by emailing social@mtu.edu.

Social Media Resources

UMC has properly sized profile image templates available upon request for official social media accounts (OSA). We also have other templates and design elements available for use on the MTU Social Media assets page.

Swag

T-shirts. Stickers. Koozies. Pens. Swag should reflect Michigan Tech pride—and follow Michigan Tech's brand. All swag and apparel must use the correct Michigan Tech logos, fonts, and colors—no exceptions. These items represent the University and must follow brand standards. All designs must be approved by UMC and ordered through a licensed vendor. Swag done right builds brand recognition. Swag done wrong hurts it.

All swag needs to be ordered through a licensed vendor and approved by University Marketing and Communications.

Our Full Name Horizontal logo can be used in the following ways:

  • Dark neutrals (black, gray): MTU Yellow logo
  • Light neutrals (white, silver): Two-color logo
  • Dark colors (green, red, etc.): White logo
  • Light colors (blue, yellow, etc.): Black logo

UMC also supports shuttle and bus wrap designs on campus.
