The Pavlis Living and Learning Community

If you're an incoming Michigan Tech student and you're interested in joining the Pavlis Honors College, consider living in the Pavlis Living and Learning Community (LLC)! The LLC is only for first-year students who are enrolled in HON1150. You'll have just enough in common with the other residents to make connections—you're all interested in the Honors College and want to get the most out of your time at Michigan Tech—while living in a diverse community of majors, backgrounds, and experiences.

Build relationships

  • You'll have your own sections of HON1150: Creating Your Path. In this course, you'll learn life design methods to create a path to help you achieve your personal educational, career, and life goals.
  • Your RAs are current Pavlis students, and you'll connect with other Pavlis students  who want to help you make your stay (and Michigan Tech as a whole) as rewarding as possible. If you have a question about your classes, are feeling homesick, or need help figuring out the washing machines, we'll connect you with a friendly face and a voice of experience.
  • You'll make connections throughout the Michigan Tech community and beyond with (optional!) activities throughout the year for you to get to know your hallmates, other Pavlis students, staff, faculty, and industry partners. From casual movie nights in the hall to catered meet-and-greets with Career Fair recruiters, there's something for everyone.

An award-winning hall

Just two months into its first year, the Pavlis LLC won the September 2019 Best Residential Community, regional level award from the Great Lakes Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (GLACURH). The nomination letter from Michigan Tech Residence Education and Housing Services encapsulated so much about what makes our community special:

Choose your accommodations

If you're not able to tour the residence halls before you make your housing decision, check out this video to see how previous Wadsworth students set up their rooms. (And make sure to look at the room at 2:25 if you're interested in seeing an en-suite bathroom.) The plant moms, the preplanned engineers, the friendly space...what will your room be?

How to Apply

  1. Apply for early admission to be eligible to live in the Pavlis Living and Learning Community (LLC). However, space is limited in the Pavlis LLC; therefore, we cannot guarantee placement. Priority in the LLC will be given based on the date your Housing contract is received and when you participate in roommate matching.
    1. On the early admission application, opt-in to the Pavlis LLC to indicate your interest in the Pavlis LLC. (If you're on the fence, say you're interested! You can decline after the initial selection if you've found another housing option.)
  2. If you're accepted, watch your email for information on how to connect with others interested in the LLC. That will make the roommate matching process easier.
  3. During roommate selection, choose your roommate and keep an eye on further communication for who is selected to live in the Pavlis LLC and get ready to join the Pavlis community!
