Biography

Dr. R. Askari is a geophysicist with considerable expertise and research experience in applied and experimental geophysics. In particular, he is interested in understanding fluid transports in geological settings with respect to their geophysical signatures (e.g., long-period events and volcanic tremors). To this aim, he has founded a Physical Modeling Laboratory (PML) at the Department of Geological and Mining Engineering and Sciences at Michigan Tech (GMES). PML is equipped with state-of-the-art 1) acoustic velocity measurement, 2) low permeability measurement, 3) ultrasonic measurement, and 4) high-speed imaging systems.

Dr. Askari provides an exclusive, equitable, and diverse atmosphere in his research group, where students from different ethnicities, genders, religions, sexual orientations, and socio-cultural backgrounds are welcomed.
