Through your generous gifts, we're able to provide an exceptional educational experience.
Because state support for higher education has declined significantly in recent years, your gift has an even greater impact in transforming individual lives, attracting world-class faculty members, and building innovative programs.
Thank you for your generosity.
Our students help to shape the future through the ubiquitous fields of electrical and computer engineering. If you would like to help shape our students’ future with a major gift, please contact:
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Gifts made directly to the department are unrestricted, giving the department the flexibility to support current priorities and respond to emerging opportunities that are not covered by other funds. All gifts, large or small, are important to the department.
Roger Kieckhafer Computer Engineering Scholarship
Professor Roger Kieckhafer was an inventor, engineer, researcher, educator, veteran and valued faculty member of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He died on Friday, July 17, 2020, in a tragic vehicle-bicycle accident. The scholarship will be awarded annually to support students majoring in computer engineering, with a GPA between 2.5 and 3.5, and have a demonstrated financial need.
Optics and Photonics Scholarship
The scholarship was set up by alumnus Eustace Dereniak. Dereniak is a professor emeritus of optical sciences and electrical and computer engineering at the University of Arizona, as well as a past president of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). SPIE has offered to match dollar-for-dollar any contributions to the scholarship fund, up to $60,000.
Electrical Energy Resource Center Renovation Fund
The Electrical Energy Resource Center (EERC) Renovation Fund was started by alumnus David House. He has given $150K to start the renovations, but we could still benefit from your help. Your assistance will keep our facilities some of the best in the nation.
Martha Sloan Endowed Scholarship
At the request of colleagues and friends of Martha Sloan, Professor Emerita, an endowed fund has been established to provide scholarship for students in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Michigan Technological University. This scholarship was created to honor Dr. Sloan for her 43 years of service to the University and Department, and in particular for her tireless efforts on behalf of women students and faculty in STEM fields.
