Maggie Stangis

What is your job and why is it your dream job?

I will be starting as a Research Technician at the Van Andel Research Institute upon graduating with my masters in April. I have dreamed about working for VARI as a cancer researcher since I was in Junior High, so this was a dream come true! I am looking forward to making a difference in the fight against cancer.

How well did Michigan Tech prepare you for your career?

Extremely well. My research experience from Tech was part of the reason I was hired at VARI.

What was your first job after graduation and how has your career progressed?

I became a Master's student at Wayne State University School of Medicine immediately following graduation from Tech, so this will be my first job!

What advice on being successful would you give to Tech students and young alumni?

Always enjoy Houghton and all of the fun it has to offer, but remember why you're there.

Would you share your philosophy of life?

The true riches in life are the memories and experiences; not the money.
