  • BS Mechanical Engineering Technology 2008
  • BS Biomedical Engineering 2010

Alicia Spaulding graduated from Michigan Tech with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 2008. She also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2010. Alicia is currently employed with Emerson in Novi, MI, as an analytical and medical senior application engineer.

Alicia states: "The practical approach I learned in MET, coupled with the theoretical world of biomedical engineering, greatly improved my success in my career path. My first occupation out of school as a field service engineer on hematology analyzers leveraged the problem-solving skills and fluidic system familiarity I learned in the MET program. Eventually, it led me to the career I have today as a senior application engineer, in which I design solenoid valves and develop fluidic control solutions for medical device OEMs."

One of Alicia's personal missions is to bring more awareness to the STEM field for young girls. Today, she is the chair of the Michigan Chapter of the Emerson Women's Impact Network. They support programs such as STEM activities at a YMCA Summer Camp and distribute STEM kits to the employee's children. Alicia is also a professional member of the Society of Women in Engineering and volunteer for outreach activities such as the Detroit Girls' Engineering Exploration which aims to get 4th - 6th grade girls excited about engineering.

Alicia has also mentored a Michigan Tech student, and is currently the Treasurer of the Alpha Xi Zeta Alumni Association that supports alumni and their children and look for ways to contribute to the Michigan Tech community when they can.
