William Schierschmidt earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Mechanical Design Engineering Technology from Michigan Tech in 1988. The AAS degree from MTU created many opportunities for him starting with being a research and development technician to then design drafting. As an R&D technician, William was given an opportunity to be creative by welding and machining various concepts for automation. After his brief work as an R&D technician, he found his passion in mobile equipment and started working on a drafting board and then progressed to a CAD system, gaining responsibilities to design and test mobile equipment applications.

William went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Lake Superior State University in 1992. He is currently employed with Komatsu America Corporation as director of North America Technical Center 3 (NATC3) where he manages three departments at two locations: Current Product Support and Development and Forestry Equipment.

His career has led him to many places of travel which include Australia, Brazil, Japan, Sweden, and many regions of North America.
